As one of the first sign manufacturing companies in the country to attain the Quality Assurance standard BS5750, in 1990 and currently ISO 9001:2008, William Smith has always held the quality of the product and the service offered to be of paramount importance.
We have always strived for quality excellence, which is reflected within our standards of service. With the introduction of our formal quality assurance policy, we can consistently monitor our progress in reaching our goals of customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, process management and employee involvement.
Our quality assurance programme means we are committed to manufacturing signs to meet the latest requirements of ISO9001:2008 and BSEN12899 part 1:2001. By striving towards these benchmarks, our products and service standards are consistently monitored to enable any adjustments or improvements to be made to either our manufacturing system or customer service processes. This means you benefit from the assurance that you receive a quality product every time.
As a company we feel that we are well on the way to meeting these requirements and would welcome comments, both positive and negative from you as to any area where you feel we could improve on the service we offer.
In 2007 we have achieved accreditation under National Highway Sector Scheme 9A for the Manufacture of Permanent and/or Temporary Road Signs as used on the motorway and major trunk road network of the Highways Agency.
The National Highway Sector Scheme 9A standard, which was introduced in January 2006, expands on the quality requirements of ISO 9001 through specific aspects of employee training in the traffic sign manufacturing industry. As a mandatory requirement for the Highways Agency it aims to ensure that all signs supplied are 'fit for purpose' and manufactured to a consistently high quality.
Additionally, we are a member of trade associations including the British Sign and Graphics Association (BSGA), the Local Authority Sign Manufacturers Association (LASMA) and the Association of Road Traffic Safety Management (ARTSM).
